Zombies… When Abigail Collins heard Nick’s theory on their current case, she knew he had to be crazy, but when a zombie shows up in her apartment she has no choice but to believe him. A renegade necromancer bent on manipulating witches and murdering innocent people runs amok in town and Abby and Nick have to stop them before more bodies pile up. Further complicating matters two PIB agents step onto the scene, claiming a link between their case and Abby’s. To top it all off, blood starved vampires are causing chaos in the city. It’s just another day for PIB Agent Abigail Collins, full of blood, monsters, and explosions.

A woman in a dress dress walks through the foggy forest.

I heard Nick’s voice. I turned to find him standing behind me, also drenched from the rain. “Yeah, what are you doing here? I thought you lived on the other end of town?”
“I was out and realized I needed to grab something before heading home.” He shrugged. “What about you?”
I took the hood of my jacket off. “Apparently I’m taking care of a lost cat until I can find the owner.”
His eyes widened. “A cat?”
“Yes, a Sphinx. You know, a naked one.”
His eyes got bigger and I laughed. “He was outside in the rain, I wasn’t going to leave him there.”
“Maybe he’s your familiar.” He said, “But just be cautious.”
I raised a brow. “He’s safe and means no harm.”
“How do you know that?”
“Because I made sure to put up a protection spell on my house last year after the Cult waltzed right in, oh and after Michelle waltzed in too. I decided it was the best type of defense.”
He pressed his lips together and gave me a disapproving gaze. “You never told me the Cult paid you a personal visit.”
Aw crap, I’d screwed up. “It doesn’t matter. It wasn’t any of your business anyways. The point is that they backed off.”
“You’re just a magnet for trouble, Abigail.”
We walked further into the store and I had no idea why he was staying next to me, but I let it go. “Don’t I know it?” I laughed. “You’ve gotten the mild end of it. Just wait, if Boss Man makes you shadow me much longer you could start to see the really weird shit.”
“For our sake, I hope we only have to partner until the end of this case. Because it’s only a matter of time until your bad luck starts to rub off on me.”
A shriek came through the nearly empty store. Nick and I both cursed and headed towards the sound. People were running the other direction, one screamed ‘vampire’ as they passed us.
Well, crap. Nick and I drew our guns and continued to where the people were running from. Sure enough, a vampire stood there with his lips sealed to the woman’s neck. His red gaze flickered to me.
“He’s blood starved.” I told Nick and we both moved closer. We took aim. “Let the woman go.” I didn’t have to technically warn the vampire, but I wanted to give him a chance. Reasoning with a blood starved vampire was kind of like reasoning with a toddler, they may not realize what they are doing is wrong and need to be told to stop.
He ignored me and went back to the woman. His blond hair fell in front of his eyes and he started to turn. I didn’t hesitate. I shot his leg. I couldn’t shoot him in the head without risking the woman, so the leg was going to have to do.
He snarled and threw the lady away. Nick went to her without me having to prompt him. The vampire turned his gaze to me and rushed me. The problem with vampires was that they moved fast. Inhumanly so. I took two more shots in hopes of slowing him down, but I ended up pinned to the floor.
He bared his fangs at me. I didn’t have any desire to be a meal. I brought my hand up and slammed the butt of my gun into his temple. He reared back and I scurried away and shot the moment I could. Blood and vampire brains exploded all over the floor and me. The body fell and I wiped the blood off my face and stood. “What the fuck.”
“Don’t put your gun away Abby.” Nick called. “Two more!”
Seriously, two more? What the hell was going on tonight? Buy two get one free on blood-starved vampires?

From the very beginning of Deathly Magic I was hooked exactly like the  case with the first book in the Here Witchy Witchy series No More Black Magic.

The story follows Abigail (Abby) Collins who is witch that works as an agent for PIB (Paranormal Investigations Bureau). With her new partner Nicholas they start to investigate a case where dead bodies start to appear. While investigating, Abby is once again thrown in to life threatening situations, which she has to try to conquer and survive.

I absolutely LOVED this story, it had me laughing at times, and I loved reading from Abby’s point of view. Each of the characters that were introdused were well written and the plot had me hurriedly reading to see what happened next.

Purrloined review

I received ARC version of Purrloined by Izzy Szyn for honest review.

Purrloined is second book of the Other World Agency series. I had never read anything from this author so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but soon as I started to read it, BOY was I in for a ride!

The Heroine Reese Temple is a woman who had joined the Other World Agency, not really knowing what it was really about, so when she was introduced to three hot lion shifter males she was really surprised when she was told she was going to be mate for three of them. Even with almost instant connection and temptation for three of them, not everything goes as smoothly as planned.

I really enjoyed reading this, I only made a mistake starting to read it while I was on public place. You never can really understand how embarrassing it can get when you are starting to be extremely aroused and starting to hope that you would be the heroine in this story!

I will give this story five out of five cupcakes, and I will add some cream to them too!

****I received a copy of this book in exchange for a review****
I loved the heroine of this story she was quick witted spunky and very original! I enjoyed getting to know her and her rag tag group of criminals try to save the world. I will say for me this story did have a bit of a slow beginning but trust me its gets so much better!

Integrity ran away from the clans when she was a young girl after being treating like trash and punished for her dead fathers crimes against her race the Sidhe. Vowing to never return she is picked by Taylor who was a master criminal. He became Integrity’s family raising her and teaching her everything he knows. She becomes a key member to a group of high end thieves who quickly become her trusted inner circle and family.

A job goes wrong and it hits the fans and everyone she trust and loves are used against her. When magic as the world knows it becomes in end of being extinct her past comes knocking at the door demanding she help.

This is a great beginning to a new series. It has a lot of potential and I look forward to reading more!

Nocturne Falls- a town where every day is Halloween and it’s citizens are a melting pot of Paranormal beings and humans is my kind of place! The town it self become a very important character in this series and is filled with it’s own secrets and I can not wait to find them all out!

I can not begin describe my love of this book! It sucked me in right away with the amazing level of snark and wacky characters (all in a good way) I loved Delaney’s spunk and love of all things sweet and chocolate (a woman after my own heart) Throw in a hot vampire a wiley old grand mother and a series of mix ups and screw ups and I am in heaven!

The fact that Hugh has two brothers and this is a series makes me extremely excited to see what kind of trouble stirs in Nocturne Falls! This was a wonderfully funny lighthearted PNR read and I wholeheartedly recommend it to any one looking to laugh and fall in love one page at a time!

Hugh and Delaney’s first date inspired this rich caffeine laced decadent brownies!

Chocolate Chunk Espresso Brownies with Dark Chocolate Espresso Sauce

Ingredients you will need

1/2 cup (1 stick) of melted butter

Espresso Powder (2 teaspoons)

1 1/2 cups of brewed espresso

6-8 ounces of dark (or milk if you prefer) Chocolate chips

Cocoa Powder

1 cup white sugar

One bar of Bakers Chocolate

2 LARGE eggs ( I find with small or medium eggs they just do not come out right)

Pinch of sea salt

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour cupcake mold (you can also use an 8 inch square pan but I prefer using my silicone cupcake mat as in my house there is world war 3 when it comes the the chewy edges and this solves that issues lol)
  2. In a glass bowl, melt 1/2 cup butter by placing in microwave for 20-30 seconds). Stir in sugar, eggs, and 2 tablespoons of espresso powder.
  3. Chop up as much of the bakers chocolate you desire- I love my brownies jam packed so I put in most of the bar…..
  4. Beat in 1/3 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup flour, salt,  baking powder and half a cup of brewed espresso. Fold in chocolate chunks.Scoop into cupcake cups or if you prefer spread batter into greased up pan.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. be wary or over cooking as that quickly becomes hockey pucks instead of brownies!.Also make sure to keep oven closed. You will know they are done when you insert a toothpick and it comes out clean.

Dark Chocolate Espresso Sauce

In a glass bowl pour chocolate chips and 1 cup of freshly brewed steaming hot espresso! Stir slowly making sure you get all the chocolate mixed in and melted. The espresso should melt all of the chocolate but if it doesn’t don’t be scared to pop in mic for a couple of seconds at a time. Mix in 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder and you have a really good sauce that can be bottled and kept in fridge for up to 2 weeks though if your house is anything like mines it wont last that long!

When I started reading this story, my impression after the couple first chapters was that the heroine of this story was quite bratty, but after continued reading I was really glad to see how much she grew and progressed as a person.

There was a lot of adventures and obstacles she faced, which drew me instantly in and I could actually see myself in the main character’s shoes and of course what would a great adventure be without romance. I liked how the heroine didn’t fall for the hero instantaneously, but it was something you wanted to see grow.  No just add water for instalove here.

The only issue I have that stops me from giving this story full 5 cupcakes is that it ended way too soon. It left too many questions open and unanswered at least for me that is. For example what happened to certain characters after everything happened? It’s as if some of them disappeared.

Rating- 4 out of 5 cupcakes.

“Why don’t we do something tomorrow night? Saturday night is
a good night to party and since we are in our 30s, we will all be home by 11.”
I said that last part laughing and Rob joined in with me.
“So true so true baby girl. Now spill why you had a smile on
your face walking into your classroom and I get here, the smile is faded and you had this look of panic on your face.”
“You saw that did you?” He just nodded and waited for me to
continue. “I met this guy online in the gaming community. We have known each
other for a year but more on a personal level the last few months. We have been emailing, Skyping, and text messaging each other a lot.”
“I see a but coming on or more to the story.”
“There is a but and a huge one at that! We started calling
on the phone when we are on breaks from work and at night. We just told one another that we like each other.”
“Has Abby decided to start dating? Oh, this is cause for
celebration.” Rob clapped his hands in excitement. He knows the hell I went through with all of the boys that I have been with and knows the toll it took on me.
“He lives in Florida and he doesn’t know what I look like.
What if he doesn’t like what he sees? What if he wants to make me his dirty little secret? What if I like him a lot and he breaks my heart?” I had tears coming down my face.
“I felt that same way when I met Aaron. We met online in the
same gaming community that you met Cash. I was terrified that he wouldn’t love me, break my heart, or even not feel the same way. I got over that in a hurry because we all need to take a leap of faith in the love department.”  Aaron stood about 5’11 and wasn’t as muscular
as Rob but he was well built. He had brown hair, hazel eyes, and a beard. I wasn’t a fan of beards but my God he made it look sexy. He was a doctor, an OBGYN. He had funny stories about how his female patients would flirt with and ask him out on dates but when they saw Rob coming around and he told them that he was in a relationship with him, they were heartbroken. They were not upset about his lifestyle but the fact that he wouldn’t date them. Rob was doing well for himself.
“I am just an overweight girl who doesn’t deserve love and
is always going to be someone’s dirty little secret.”
Rob slammed his hand onto the table making me jump. “Why is
it that you listen to all the people who are not worthy of you and ignore those who love you the most?”
“It is easier to listen to the negative than the positive.
The people who love me most will always say what I want to hear not what is
true. Do you think I like being this way? Do you think I like doubting every man who comes into my life? Do you think I don’t want the husband, children, and know the feeling of what true love is? Until you have been subjected to this way of thinking all your life, don’t get mad at me for feeling like this, Rob.”
“Honey, I am not mad at you but just disappointed. You are
so beautiful and sexy that any man,” I went to open my mouth to say something and he held up his hand, “who is deserving of you. I wish you could see it.
When you meet the man who is worthy of you, he will show you and you will believe it. I think you should keep getting to know Cash and see where things go. Keep an open mind. If all else fails, think “What would Rob say?” I am very wise, just so you know.
I laughed, “Wise huh, maybe a wise-ass.” He feigned shock by
my words.

Dirty Angels by Karina Halle Review

Dirty Angels by Karina Halle

From the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling author of The Pact, Love, in English and The Artists Trilogy, comes a dark romance about a good girl and a very, very bad man. It’s a deliciously twisted take on forbidden love, set among the drug cartels of hot, steamy Mexico and is not for the faint of heart. It contains explicit sex, violence, abuse, drug use, bad language and sexy Mexicans. You have been warned…
