synopsis

From the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling author of The Pact, Love, in English and The Artists Trilogy, comes a dark romance about a good girl and a very, very bad man. It’s a deliciously twisted take on forbidden love, set among the drug cartels of hot, steamy Mexico and is not for the faint of heart. It contains explicit sex, violence, abuse, drug use, bad language and sexy Mexicans. You have been warned…

Before I started to read this book I was afraid that this would be fast [ace story with no actual plot, but I was soon proven wrong when I was overtaken by this book and its characters till the very last page!

The heroine of this story is Luisa who is married to one of the most nefarious crime lords of Mexico. She married in order to assure her parents are taken care of. Then the abuse starts and only gets worse till she can’t take much more of it and tries to escape, only to be kidnapped by rival syndicate. Once she is kidnapped the leader of the syndicate Javier Bernal has set his eyes on Luisa. Only time will tell if Luisa can survive.

This story was hard to read at times because the dark content it held within its pages, but I couldn’t stop reading it. All my emotions were high and my heart was pretty much ripped  to pieces while reading this, it made me want to keep continuing reading to see what would happen. Would she survive? How can her life get any worse? Will she finally get a happy ending? Will I ever get over this book hanger over?

I can say with pleasure that this story has earned five out of five cupcakes!
