I’m determined to move past it.
But life doesn’t always cooperate, especially when my roommate is now shacking up with his best friend. If he thinks his boyish charm and crooked smile are enough to make me forget, he has another thing coming.

The heart is a fragile thing. I have no intention of putting mine back in the hands of a man hell bent on seeing how far it will bend before it finally breaks.

The second addition in the Crazy Love Series, Melissa Toppen has once again created a fluid HEA romance with enough spice to make you sweat. Her writing style at times is so poetically descriptive that her words effortlessly flow into the reader. Easily could be a standalone novel, but if you haven’t picked up the first in the series, Crazy Stupid Love, you are missing out. Up next in the third addition is Paxton. Keep your eyes peeled for what is sure to be another 5 out of 5.

Take Two by Traci Hayden Promo Tour

A Picture Perfect Novel
Traci Hayden
Official genre of book: Contemporary Romance
Beth Huntley, photographer and devoted bachelorette, doesn’t believe in true love. Too much hurt and disappointment has left her hiding behind the camera. All she can see is a black and white world through the lens.
William Lorde, widower and father, was once an open and carefree man. The loss of his wife has left him wrapped up in the needs of his little girl. He can no longer see the colors of the world as he struggles each and every day.
What happens when these two similarly different people meet and help each other to step out of the world they’ve created for themselves? Will they find a love that helps them heal from the past, enjoy their present and create a beautiful future?
I woke the following morning to the sound of the ocean crashing against the beach. I was still wrapped in William’s embrace, my head resting on his shoulder. His breathing was even and soft as he slept.
I was too comfortable to start the new day. Looking around without bothering to lift my head, I located our clothes, neatly folded on the other chair under the cabana. Heat rushed to my cheeks. Who had done that? And when had they done it?
William stirred beside me. “Morning, love.” His voice was rough with sleep.
“Morning,” I whispered, not sure if our mysterious housekeeper was still nearby.
He was immediately focused. “Beth, what’s wrong?”
It was impossible to hide anything from him now. I was an open book now and he was my reader.
“We had a visitor,” I said, pointing at our neatly-folded clothes.
He relaxed back into the chair. “Oh, Beth, we’re grown adults. We didn’t do anything the rest of them haven’t done.”
He was right, but it wasn’t something I was so open to having everyone know. “But…”
“Relax, Beth.” William consoled me. “Are you regretting it?”
I was shocked at his question. “No, never!”
“So don’t be embarrassed. It’s a natural part of a relationship,” William chuckled. “Stop over thinking everything.”
I hid my face on his chest. He was right; he was always right. How could I doubt what had happened between us? We’d both been ready, and I was sure a few people up at the house were curious why it hadn’t happened sooner. I had to stop over-analyzing everything.
A different thought crossed my mind. “Oh my god, William!” I jumped up, scrambling for my clothes.
“Beth? What?”
“My camera!” I cursed as I yanked the tank top from the folded clothes over my head.
“Where did you leave it?” He sounded concerned, knowing what my equipment meant to me.
“On the beach, before we went into the water last night,” I yelled as I hopped out of the cabana, still attempting to get my other leg in my shorts.
We spent the next twenty minutes searching the beach. My anger quickly turned into horror as reality sunk in. My camera was gone. Had someone taken it, or had the ocean claimed it?
William tried to comfort me as we trudged up the path to the villa. “All those photos… the airport, the flight, the first photos of Jamaica, they’re all gone, William.” I was more upset over the loss of the photos than the camera itself.
Voices were audible from the kitchen as we stepped through the patio doors. The aromas were incredible, but weren’t enough to lighten my mood. Most people would be upset about the camera, but even if it was my favorite, and worth a ridiculous amount of money, it was the loss of so many memories which upset me.
Jude came out of her bedroom and stopped short when she spotted us. She glanced towards the kitchen as she rushed towards us. She wrapped her arms around me, and whispered loud enough so William could hear her, “Everyone thinks you went for an early walk.” I stiffened, unsure how much she knew. “I put your camera in your bedroom.” She chuckled as she stepped back. As she turned, she reached out and tugged on William’s shirt. “You really do pack neatly.”
I stood motionless, completely stunned and my body turned to lava with embarrassment. Just before Jude turned the corner to the kitchen, she glanced over her shoulder. “By the way, William, you should get a tan on that ass.”

28 year old writer, Vanessa Fortney, has travelled the world, living life to the fullest. When she comes home due to the unexpected death of her only blood relatives, she only has one regret; never finding a love that triumphs all others.
In a beautiful valley in the Rocky Mountains, Nessa finds herself wondering about a mysterious stranger who saved her after a nearly disastrous car accident. The mystery that surrounds Daniel is quickly replaced by the increasing attraction Nessa feels for him.
Will she find that love that transcends all love or will an unforeseen tragedy keep them apart?
My love for books began at a very small age. I lived inside the many worlds the local library could provide. The characters within those pages were my companions and my support when I needed someone most.
My imagination began to soar as I grew. I began writing small poems as a teenager, but never thought much about publishing or expanding beyond put my words to paper.
After my children were born our love for a certain TV show fueled my love for writing. Using my children as inspiration, I began to write fanfiction, my children being the characters within the stories.
My passion for putting words to paper (or screen as is the norm now) has turned from passion to obsession. I’ve made some incredible friends through this journey and in turn, have become not only an author but a promoter and supporter for those whose imagination dreams characters and worlds that I can lose myself in.
I thank my precious children, my beautiful soul-mate and my forever sister and best friend for being my constant rock and support as I continue to walk this road called life.

Diary Entry 7/24- How do you solve a problem like your TBR?

I can honestly say I hear the words “You have enough books!” at least 2-3 times a week or more. I have been chased in book stores to put down the books and back away. I have pretended to tie my shoe only to make a mad dash to the book section of our local Target. We have taken the long way so I don’t see the Barnes and Nobles or Borders.(yes they still exist here in Florida) Eventually they just shake their heads and mumble something about me needing help as I sashay my way to the counter with my arms full of books to add to the growing pile of books on my desk. This is a habit that I must soon say goodbye to as work isn’t coming easy and my back account hates me….

My desk sports a wonderful pile that is ever growing and I may never get to the bottom of because of all the new pretties coming out! My kindle is busting at the seems and still I cruise Amazon for sales and new releases. So I have decided that after the Submit and Devour author event (where the boy has specific instructions to not give me my card until I have made a full circle of the room and decided on the two books I am allowed to purchase.) I will not be buying any more books until I have made a sizable dent in my TBR.

So how do you solve a problem like your TBR? I have decided to go through and organize it by the want of reading which is extremely hard but needs to be done. I also have a list of over 160 review request and NetGalley calls to me daily (not that I get accepted often) but I MUST FIGHT THE TEMPTATION! So until my review request and my TBR is down considerably I have to pretend there are not like 100 new releases I am dying to get my chubby little fingers on and keep it moving!

How do you get through your TBR? Should we start a book hoarders anonymous? Where we all meet up in a cozy sweater or mermaid blankie (which by the way I am coveting so hard right now…) with a big ol’ cup of tea or coffee and talk about the daily struggles not to one click or run happily through a book store snatching up all the pretties? Should we have a hotline to talk you off the add to cart ledge? Tell me how you get through the trouble of being a book hoarder I need ideas!

Diary Entry 07/23- What reading and blogging mean to me.

This will be my first of what I hope are many diary entries. When I first started this blog I was lost and I can not say that I am found as of yet but I can say I am on my way. I watched as someone close to me had a lot of success with her own blog and after losing everything I had worked for for 10 years I thought to myself “I can do that! How hard can it be?”….

The answer is HARD. Very very hard. I have done giveaways and sales and free events. I have reviewed and created recipes. I have email hundreds if not thousands of companies, authors and publishers to be ignored without not even a thanks for your interest response. I have read tons of how to books and articles. No one tells you how hard it is to run a blog. The emails, the failures and the never being good enough. The likes and dislikes. The many many many ups and downs. The failures to create content that will bring people to your page.

After all that I am still lost and struggling to create something I am proud of. I have given up 3-4 times and taken time off thinking this isn’t my bliss and perhaps I have been following it for no reason. Then something so horrible and earth shattering happens ( It is still to fresh to talk about) and the only thing to bring me out of my bed ridden depression is reading.

Reading has always been my out when things got rough. Reading has been like a best friend who is always there no matter the time or place. When the world got to be too much for me to handle I could visit Alice and fall down the rabbit hole for a couple of hours. Or I could fly off to never land and crow with the best of them. As I grew older I was able to fly with shifters and chase the night with vampires and magical creatures created by magical creatures in their own rights- authors. We focus so much on the stories we forget about the hard working creators. Something I have always want to do was write. The reason I created this blog wasn’t for the followers or shares but for my love of all things literary. I hope to one day be the blog that publishers and authors don’t ignore but for now I am happy to read and share the wonderful books I get to read day to day.

The truth is this is hard and often thankless job but it’s my way of thanking the many hard working authors that in way or another have saved my life many of times. Maybe one day I will be the blog that has over 10k likes or the blog that is no longer ignored by authors and publishers because I don’t have a big enough following. One day. But today I am focusing on why I started this blog and yeah things are extremely tough in my life right now but I will always have wonderland to escape too when need be. So from here on out I will put my everything into this blog in hopes that it will some day be someone’s escape or the reason you smile if for only one second.

If you are reading this and having a hard time know that the road is tough but will soon lead you to where your bliss is.

Caerwin, a young Cornovii princess, watches from the rocky battlements of her tribe’s hillfort as Rome’s legions approach. Surely the valiant warriors of her tribe will fend off this swarm of foreign invaders. Disbelief slowly changes to horror as Romans overrun her home.
Captured and held in Roman camp, Caerwin faces Legate Marcellus Antistius who makes it clear she will submit to his demands. In spite of her resistance, he forces her pleasure. She begs to die.
Caught between his increasing infatuation with this Briton princess and the demands of his military command, Marcellus must come to terms with his past.

Lizzie Ashworth has been through career, marriage, kids, and even ran her own cafe, but writing has always been her secret love. Hidden away on a remote woodland hilltop in the Arkansas Ozarks, she accepts advice from her hound dog Weezie and her black cat Esmeralda. She has authored seven novels and several short stories which explore the intimate nuances of human relationships.
Liz writes erotic romance because her mind just naturally runs to the gutter. Also, it’s way past time to celebrate women’s sexual freedom and the evolution of our culture to finally bring sex out of the closet. What she find most exciting about this minute in the history of literature is that through indie publishing, the author can directly connect with her readers.
She enjoys cooking, gardening, and vacations at the Pacific coast. Sunrise and sunset provide her favorite moments, the magical twilight between two worlds when anything seems possible. Most of all, she loves snuggling up with a good book.

The Spirit by Harper L. Jameson Review

Title- Spirit

Author- Harper L. Jameson

Genre- PNR

Purchase Links-Amazon

Rating- 5 out of 5 Cupcake

Before the white man settled the Appalachians, he stood over the people of the Tribe, providing all they needed to flourish in the shadow of the mountains.
The many tribes have given him many different names. Wakan Tanko. Maheo. To the people that first hunted the corner of Appalachia known to later generations as Wright’s Holler, he was Weshemoneto, the Great Spirit.
To Anna Madeline Wright, he would simply be Wes.
Born in the holler that bore her name, “Annie” Wright came from people that had learned to live on the land, people who believed in the magic saturating the woods around them. People who knew how to survive.
Circumstance of birth gave her power. Her skills gave her respect. Her magic gave them hope. In a town not yet influenced by the progress of the industrial revolution, Annie was a pauwau. A witch.
The winter of 1836 hit the town of McAllen hard and with her people in danger of annihilation, Annie called on the spirits for the power to save them. Her desperation called Weshemoneto himself . When they collided, she had to make a choice: Lose her town or lose her heart.

What happened next would become the stuff of legend for centuries to come.

Wes’s brows shot into his hairline, still reeling from hearing the words on her lips and not fully grasping what she was asking him until her hands moved over his chest. Her seared palm throbbing with a humming current where it lay over his heart. His lips peeled back off of teeth sharpening with his desire. “I would not take you while you are weakened, ni’wa,” he tried arguing, but it was too late. Her need filtered to his senses, a heady perfume that the animal in him wasn’t going to let go unanswered.
“You make me strong, Wes,” Annie insisted, face tipping up to brush her lips to his throat. “The first time was to trap you,” she frowned, her guilt still weighing heavy on her. “This time, I just want to love you, n’ I want you to love me. No traps. No tricks. Just us for however long we got.” Annie took a deep breath and took the chance, her hands smoothing down the muscled plane of his chest until she reached his answer.

When I started reading this story, I was a bit of afraid that it would be hard to read because some of the words that are used in this story were hard to remember along with their meanings, but I was glad to see that it was much easier to read than I thought.

The heroine of this story is Annie, who is the witch of their small mountain village. She is areally powerful character, who has her own opinions and always look after the needs of those in need. I loved learning everything that happened around her and how it all just made her even stronger. She is a well written and very likable character.

The hero Wes, who is the Great Spirit was strong, but at the same time I liked how he seems to be even more when he was together with Annie. Upon meeting Annie the chemistry between our hero and heroine was so strong and intense I found myself blushing! I really enjoy watching the intensity grow with each page.

I found the plot to be really interesting to read, it made me want to gobble up the pages as quickly as possible. I am glad that there will be more to this story to come! I think this story is perfect to everyone who love stories with fantasy and romance the kind that pull you inside the pages and spit you out once the book is done longing for more of the story.

I am giving this story Five out of Five Cupcakes!

Harper L. Jameson was born in South Eastern Ohio and raised on the stories of the family seat in the holler–a tiny hamlet nestled in the shadow of the Appalachians. Her imagination ran wild, fueled on tales of folklore and superstitions…of Indian burial sites and haunted woods where magic still runs free. Beginning with her debut novel “The Spirit”, she’s putting a new spin on paranormal romance by bringing the old legends back from our forgotten past. She currently lives in North Carolina with her husband and children, but she never really left the holler. No one ever does.
