Title- Down For The Count – The Complete Series
Author- Christa Cervone
I’ve always been a fighter,
Even before I knew it was in my blood.
I fought the demons of my past.
I fought for my life.
I fought for the future I wanted.
Growing up in a foster home, after my father killed my mother,
I fought for who I was,
Who I could become.
And now, it’s what I do, what I am.
My career is in the ring, taking down every opponent I face,
Every enemy who threatens me.
But now, I’ve got the biggest fight of my life,
Fighting for her, the one I want,
The one I can’t have.
Salem Harris is taken, but I swear to God,
She’ll be mine, even if I go down for the count,
I’ll fight like Hell for her,
Or die trying

Boxer Gabriel, The Saint, Vega has worked hard to be where he’s at. Being the son of a druggie mom who was murdered by his abusive father, Gabriel’s childhood was fraught with heartbreak. Separated from his little brother, Jase, and sent to a foster home, Gabriel acts out by breaking the law. Caught and given the choice of jail or having Frankie Carbone as his mentor, he chooses Frankie. With Frankie by his side pushing him to succeed, Saint emerges and bounces back from his past towards a promising future as a boxer. Life is going well until Gabriel gets offered a chance at a sponsorship and meets Salem, the girlfriend of his sponsor.
A seemingly spoiled and uppity socialite, Salem has layers to herself that Gabriel is able to see past. It’s no help that she has him tied up in knots with every passing. Like everything else life has thrown at him, Gabriel accepts the challenge of pursuing Salem every chance he gets. The road to their HEA is a rocky one filled with confusion, passion, tragedy, and a love that brings them a future worth the fight.
Down For The Count, The Complete Series, puts Gabriel and Salem’s story all in one place. The growth between the Hero and heroine from the beginning of their journey to the end is leaps from where I imagined them. Their HEA was intensely satisfying to read and made the whole trip worth the wait.
My rating for this story is 4 out of 5 cupcakes!
