This is the first book in a new series by Tonya Kappes who is well know for her many mystery and romance novels. I found it to surpass all my expectations from her past work.

Maggie works in her family diner with her aunt and sister while she waits for her destiny to kick in. All witches have a witching hour when they find what their calling is and Maggie’s seems to be late. When a magical dare with her younger sister, Lilith goes awry she accidentally finds herself in a big crazy criminal investigation with SKUL agent Mick Jasper.

Mick Jasper has everything under control until Maggie Park interferes and everything hits the fan. Yet there is something about her and her weird car she calls Vinnie that intrigues him and he needs to know what it is!

I thought this book had the perfect amount of wit snark and mystery and really enjoyed getting to know these new characters. Mrs Kappes really hit the mark with this fun and hilarious read and fully enjoyed the plot which is fresh and unique. I especially appreciated that the author is clearly building a relationship between Maggie and Mick instead of your typical instalove.
