The first rule of being a ghost whisperer: Don’t tell anyone.
Seriously. Don’t.
Sure, it might sound harmless. A fun party trick, even. I assure you, it’s not.
How do I know? Well, let’s just say that I’ve had a lot of experience with this sort of thing, and nine times out of ten, it turns into an all-consuming disaster.
Being plagued by needy ghosts twenty-four/seven is one thing; being harassed by a horde of curious—or worse, grieving—flesh-and-blood people is an entirely different circus. I mean really, who wants to hold an impromptu séance in the middle of the cereal aisle? Not me, and the manager of the grocery store probably isn’t too crazy about the idea, either.
So, that’s it. If you’re a ghost whisperer, just keep your mouth shut and act normal. Ghosts? What ghosts?
Now, if only I would start listening to my own advice

Scarlet Sanderson has traveled the world- never staying in one place for too long. Her “gift”makes it hard for her to settle down. No matter where she goes, ghost seem to find her and they never take no for an answer. Scarlet decides to finally plant roots in the small town of Beechwood Harbor. After all how much trouble can a ghost whisperer get in to in a sleepy little town – right?

The Sweet-

I found Scarlet to be smart, funny and a bit stubborn and I love her! I really loved the television series Ghost Whisperer and this book really reminds me of it in the best way  possible- We have Scarlet (who at first fights her gift) who owns a flower shop in a small town. She is forced to help a rage filled ghost but along the way she enjoys helping the ghost.

The author creates such a charming small town feel while keeping the reader engaged and interested. I really enjoyed my trip back to Beechwood Harbor!

Rating – 5 out of 5 cupcakes- I would recommend this book to any oe who enjoys cozy mysteries as well as ghost tales!

Now Claudia must find out how Mrs O’Conner really died or all her secrets may come out and everything she has worked so hard for could come to an end.

The Sweet-

So witchy cozy mysteries are my absolute fav when it comes to picking a new book to read. Having read some of the author’s previous work I was beyond excited when I purchased the ebook to read. Let me tell you Ms Dragon did not disappoint!

The characters all has their own quirks making each of them so realistic and original. Claudia the main heroine of is not only a bad ass powerful witch but she is also kind and smart she is alo hard headed and stubborn.

The story itself is well written and creative leaving the reader guessing the entire time. Your mind points to so many possible characters that could have killed Ms O’Connor that when you finally figure it out you can’t believed you missed it!

If you enjoy witchy cozy mysteries that are snarky and clever than I highly recommend Pick your Potion by CC Dragon,

Southern Charms by S.E. Kloos Review

Title: Southern Charms

Author: S.E. Kloos

Rating: 5 out of 5 Cupcakes!

I received this story for honest review. The story starts with Elizabeth, who has been abused by her ex boyfriend, trying to get away from her past and go to hiding to her relatives she travels to Texas, where she meets Xander who is a rodeo rider. He saves her when she sees her ex at the fair, but her ex gets away. The story follows both characters seamlessly. This book is pretty much a story about how even though you face abusive and set backs there is always room and a chance for love.

I absolutely loved how the author wrote each character from the main characters to smaller side characters. You could relate to the heroine and see how she much grows through out the story, and the villain (her ex) was written so well that I hated him from start to finish.

I recommend this books to everyone who love well written love stories, with amazing plots and hot scenes.

Freshly sprung from witch jail, Winnie Foster just has to fulfill the conditions of her parole and she’s home free.

Too bad that parole takes place in Paris. (Texas!) Where she’ll work at a school for the magically inclined. (KIDS!) And be forced to endure the ex, who’s one of the very reasons she landed in the pokey to begin with. (GAH!!)

Bratty tots, sexy ex, timed showers, creepy dolls, magic restrictions, and a GPS with an attitude, all wrapped in a Texas town hotter than the surface of the sun? Oh yeah. No way this could go wrong…

“You’re going to Paris.”

Winnie kept her expression placid, but her stomach pirouetted like a ballerina. Shut the front door. Her task was in Paris?

Act like it’s no big deal. You’ve been to Paris before. Okay, you got there by zapping your own private plane into being and making a mess of international airspace, if you listened to air traffic control carry on about it, but it all turned out okay.

But holy shopping! Paris? Had Zelda gotten as lucky as she had?

Baba Yaga held up a set of shiny keys, glinting under the fading sun. “Take these.”

Winnie cocked her head. “Keys?” Did planes use keys to start them?

“What are stupid questions for one hundred, Alex? Yes. Keys, Winnifred. Take them,” she snapped, holding them out to Winnie and jiggling them under her nose.

She was all about being tested. In fact, she welcomed it if it meant she could get on with her life, but even Baba Yaga couldn’t expect her to drive to Paris without using her magic. “Do you need keys to start a plane?” she asked tentatively.

“Nope, but you need them to drive.”

Winnie laughed out loud, slapping her thighs. “You can’t drive to Paris, Baba Yaga. You’ve been around for centuries—did you miss that history lesson?”

Baba Yaga’s eyes narrowed, glittery and angry.

Ohhh. Bad Winnie. Hush before you end up in cellblock X.

“I didn’t miss a thing, Winnifred. Literally or figuratively. The keys are for your car. See that rusty pink bubble with the Summer’s Eve advertisement on it?” She pointed all the way to the far end of the parking lot.

Winnie squinted into the setting sun, her stomach sinking. Indeed, there was a pink Pacer, professionally wrapped with a picture of an enormous feminine product on the side of it. “Yeah…”

“That’s your chariot, cookie. There’s a GPS system in there with the coordinates for Paris.”

She was obviously missing the boat here. You couldn’t drive to Paris, for seven hells’ sakes. Not even in a car with a big douche on the side of it.

Baba Yaga lobbed the keys at her with an evil grin slathered over her ageless lips. “Oh, and in case you’re wondering. That’s Paris, Texas. Not Eiffel-Tower, Champs-Élysées Paris,” she seemed to take great pleasure in sharing before she was gone in a puff of pink curtains and matching scrunchie.

Paris, Texas.

Yippee-ky-yay, motherfluffers.

Winnie and Zelda are two spoiled witches whose crime against the witchs reed have landed them in the slammer without magic and with out the life they have grown accustomed to or rather zapped up for themselves. Best Friends and each others ride or die they have some how survived their sentence.

They are now up for parole and have each been given a task to prove that they are worthy of their magic. Not only must they prove their worth but they must do it with out one another!

I thought this book was hilarious and I snorted more than once! I loved watching Winnie go from a snot with a bad temper who used her magic against others with no remorse to a loving softy who sacrifices everything for the kids and other who have stolen her heart whilst being stranded in Paris Texas.

This plot line was original and so freaking funny, the lengths that Baba Yaga who is the HBC of the magical console has gone to punish Winnie makes this book hum with those funny awkward moments that make you lauch out loud while reading.

So here she is stuck in Paris… not THAT Paris but Paris Texas driving around a pink french douche mobile who insist on calling her Weenie, a talking cabbage pack kid who just happens to having his head hanging by a thread and shes saying in the same house as her ex who she spent time in the slamer for blowing up his warehouse and ruining his company. Oh Vey!

So after reading this fantastic read I was inspired (by the douche mobile)  to make a bad ass bright pink sparkling cocktail!  It’s super easy and super yummy!

So here is what you will need-

  • 4 ounces Strawberry Flavored vodka
  • I Bottle Rose
  • I Cup WatermelonJuice (Easily made by juicing/blending some chunks of watermelon and straining 1-2 times)
  • Sliced Frozen Strawberries                                                           image (1)

In a pitcher pour Strawberry Vodka and Watermelon Juice mixing with a wooden spoon. Slowly pour in Bottle of Rose. Garnish each glass with 4-5 slices of strawberries (don’t worry about the juice it adds to the yummy!) and pour cocktail over strawberries!

Review 5 gems!-

I found this story to be completely original- I have never read anything like it and enjoyed it very much! The Angels have fallen in love with human woman thus causing them to lose the favor of god and fall once again only this time not in love but to hell to be punished for the crimes they have committed out of lust and love.

Samyaza is one the first angels we meet in detail and get to see how his fall came about, We witness his pain not only from his past and what he has lost but as well as his centuries long punishment in the deep bowels of hell.

Crystal is an innocent. She longs for love and a change in her life. She feels something coming but she has no idea what it is She is unaware of what had found her and what it’s plans are for her. Evil wants her and will not consume until it consumes her,

Can they save each other? Can he gain her love? Can she trust this beautiul dark stranger? You will have to read to find out!

I was inspired by this book to make yummy and sinfully good Angels Food cupcakes that are drizzled in bourbon caramel and so damned good!

Here is the recipe!

Sinful Angel Food Cupcakes

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup cake flour

1/4 tsp salt

6 egg whites, at room temperature*

2 ½ Tbsp milk

½  tsp vanilla

1/4 cup of Bourbon (or you know 1/2 or 2/3 of a cup like me if you really want to taste bourbon)

3/4 tsp cream of tartar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a food processor, pulse sugar until super fine, about 2 minutes. In a mixing bowl, sift together half of the sugar, the cake flour and the salt.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together egg whites, water, vanilla extract, bourbon and creme de tartar (this can be found among the baking supplies at your local supermarket typically next to food coloring) until well combined, about 2 minutes.  Switch to a hand mixer and whip mixture on medium speed while slowly adding remaining sugar to mixture, until medium peaks form. Slowly sift flour mixture in with the egg white mixture and gently fold flour layer into egg white mixture with wooden spoon or spatula and continue this process until all of the flour mixture has been incorporated. Do not over mix! This leads to dense and dry cakes!

Spoon batter into cupcake liners filling each cup nearly full ( I use a ice cream scoop its perfect). Or if you are working with silicone bakeware like me fill half way as they tend to puff up more, also make sure to place on cookie sheet to make it easier when putting in and taking out of oven. Bake for 18 – 20 minutes (it really depends on how your oven bake all oven are not created equal!) until golden and toothpick inserted into center comes out clean. Once out of oven brush top with bourbon simple syrup (recipe below) Cool completely before frosting and drizzling caramel over.

Bourbon Simple Syrup

1/2 cup Water

1/2 cup Bourbon

1 cup brown sugar

Combine everything into a sauce pan until smooth and sugar had melted and incorporated completely (btw any leftovers can be put away to use in coffee or even cocktails!)

Coconut Pecan Frosting

1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk

1 1/2 cups sugar

3/4 cup butter

4 egg yolks, slightly beaten

2  teaspoons bourbon

7 ounces toasted coconut, about 2 2/3 cups

1 1⁄2 cups chopped pecans

Bourbon Caramel sauce

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup evaporated milk

1/2 cup bourbon

pinch of salt

Simmer sugar and ¼ cup bourbon on medium heat, swirling pan NOT stirring for about 15 minutes Watch closely and remember that alcohol is extremely flammable so be careful!

Remove from heat slowly stirring in evaporated milk Add pinch of salt (to taste)and bourbon and place back on still-warm burner for another minute while stirring until thickened. I let mines cool and then poured it into a mason jar (again leftovers have many possibilities!)

Frost cakes and then drizzle caramel over for a sinful treat that even the Angels will fall for!

An insane love that will keep you from falling—or push you right off the edge.

All she needed was a job…
The last thing twenty-four year old grad student Angie Roberts needs is to worry about her new boss’s father. After all, she’s never even seen him. He remains sequestered upstairs in a house that looks like it should be the main feature in an episode of Hoarders. She had no idea the house was such a dump when she took the job. But she’s concerned about the safety and health of the old man living under such horrid conditions.

What she got was a mystery…
Despite warnings not to venture upstairs, she wanders up to the second floor. What she sees is shocking. The man she finds is a gorgeous, sexy, middle-aged man– and he’s stepping out of the shower. But something is definitely not right. Why would this wealthy, handsome man live in a house in such disrepair while his nine-teen year old son resides in a lavish pent-house? Why does he hide away from society? Why does he come to her rescue and then run away?

What she discovered was heartbreaking…
Angie learns that forty-four year old Grayson Whitmore suffers from schiz-ophrenia. Paranoid, he retreats into his own world.

What she ended up with was a treasure…
Angie is determined to get through to Grayson. They form a friendship that blazes into an inconceivable love fired with raging passion. Angie must now come to Grayson’s rescue because the wicked that has been perpetrated on him is unconscionable. First, though, she must gain the trust of a man whose mind does not allow for such a thing.

He tries to keep her out and push her away but Angie is stubborn and refuses to give up on him.

I fell head over heels in love with this story and Grayson. This is so well written and the plot isn’t insta-love which can sometimes be annoying and unbelievable. Angie is the kind of heroine you want to read about. She is smart, funny and doesn’t take anyone’s shit.

I loved how the story was built and the love that Grayson has for Angie isn’t overpowering or demanding in typical romance fashion. This story is real and heart wrenching when we are given a peek into Grayson’s mind and illness.

unnamed (10)

This book brings an awareness to mental illness that we don’t often see. Grayson isn’t made to look like a loon or incompetent. He is smart. funny and fully aware of his illness and shortcomings because of his illness but he is also able to overcome them. The author is a nurse and is able to use her experience to create this very realistic world.

I just can’t recommend this book enough is it a wonderful must read!

Early Sunday morning, I found him upstairs in the room with the books. They were piled all around him as he scratched at something on the floor with an old shovel. The room was saturated with an early morning chill, so thick I could feel it seeping through my skin. I hugged my torso, scrubbing my palms up and down my arms. I approached him hesitantly and asked what he was doing. My heart was in my throat because I never knew what to expect with Grayson. He stopped and leaned against the handle, his cloudy gaze finding my face. He was fully dressed. He must have gotten dressed again after we’d made love earlier.

“Digging,” he acknowledged casually. “Digging a trap.”

I swallowed hard, emotion stacking like bricks in my chest. I shook my head, my mind grasping for purchase, trying to understand. “For what, Grayson?”

“Danger. I have to be prepared. I have to protect us. I have to protect the house.”

I reached out a hand, trying to keep it steady. “You’re safe, Grayson.”

His gaze shifted to my proffered hand, but he didn’t move. He didn’t believe me. Fear and skepticism drew a roadmap of worry on his face. His jaw squared and he tightened his lips into a brittle line. I watched his body uncurl as he grabbed the shovel and silently started scraping at the floor again. That’s when I saw it. There was a large, jagged crater in the dusty wood that must have been covered up by the scattered books. It was directly over the small cracks I’d seen in the ceiling downstairs, the network of spider veins I’d noticed soon after starting here. I wondered how long he’d been working at this trap. I could already see exposed beams and fluffy insulation. If he kept this up, eventually he’d put a hole right through the wood floor.

“Go back to bed, Angie.”

“I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying with you, Grayson,” I said sternly, plopping myself down on the floor next to him.

He stopped again and stared at me, his blue eyes almost cobalt in the gray dawn. His hair was a loose mane framing his face, giving him an unruly look. “You’ll be tired. You haven’t gotten much sleep.”

I squeezed my eyes shut, hurting, thinking of the reason I’d been up most of the night. We’d held each other, made exquisite love, bathed in a temporary utopia where I could pretend he was okay.

But Grayson wasn’t okay, and as I spent more time with him, I realized the extent of his fractured thoughts. My Grayson was funny and brilliant. My Grayson was tender and passionate. My Grayson could melt my heart with the tiniest smile. But this man, too, was my Grayson, a man who was sometimes out of touch with reality, who lived in the distorted world concocted by his brain. It was a world of doubt, fear, and distrust.

Heartbroken and unsure of what to do now Lisa accepts when Jerzy offers her 25,000 dollars to marry his nephew and help him get his green card. She feels it is the right thing to do. After all she has already planned a wedding..

I want to start off by saying that this book was originally a Screenplay made into a book and I am saddened that it never made it to the big screen. It is the perfect Romantic Comedy! The kind you watch in your jammies with a glass of wine some chocolate and a box of tissues.

The plot is filled with witty humor and the kind of perfect moments that make a girl sigh out loud while reading. I could not help but be sucked into the whirlwind romance that soon develops between Lisa and her “mail order groom” Krzys. Krzys has all the makings of a perfect book boyfriend. He is kind, hot and has a sexy accent! (HELLLOOOOOO)

The author perfectly nails the inner dialogue of a bride to be then later on a bride scorned which is dramatic ridiculous and down right hilarious! This story is filled with the kind of moments that make the read (or at least this reader) think “Ha, that’s something that would totally happen to me!”

This is a perfect clean read for the hopeless romantic in all of us. I strongly recommend this book if you are in need of a sweet pick me up read!

“Without further ado,” said Pastor Dan, “I now pronounce you husband and wife.”

Was it really over? I remained there, unmoving, as reality sunk in. Yes, it was over. I had married Krzysztof Zielinski. Despite my good intentions for having married him, I couldn’t escape the enormity of what I had done. I hardly knew Krzys, but I needed to make our marriage look real, or else he and Jerzy would lose everything. What made it even harder was that my heart was still breaking over Jeff, and nobody could ever know how I felt. Would I really be able to do this?

Pastor Dan clasped his hands together and turned toward Krzys. “You may now kiss the bride.”

Somehow, I had forgotten about this part of the ceremony. I wasn’t ready to kiss Krzys, or anyone else for that matter. Jeff was the only man I had kissed in years. What was I going to do now?

The photographer that I had hired for the day positioned the camera directly in front of us, and everyone in the room waited in silence for our blessed union.

I caught a glimpse of Mario and Jerzy who stood beside Krzys, and Magda who sat behind them in the front row of the church looking beautiful in a flowing floral dress. Daphne, Chloe, and Zoey were at my side in matching bubble gum pink maid of honor and bridesmaids gowns. They all watched me and Krzys with anticipation.

There was no way around it. I had to kiss Krzys, and it had to look as if it was something other than the first time.

As I prepared myself mentally for the inevitable, I decided that our kiss couldn’t be just any kiss. It had to be better than anything Jeff and I had ever shared and better than what he and Vivian experienced on the night I found them together. I was going to give Krzys the biggest, most overly exaggerated kiss in the history of my love life, and I was going to make sure we were in full view of the camera. I hoped with everything inside of me that Jeff would see a picture of that moment and that somehow, someway, he would feel the same pain I felt when I saw him kiss Vivian,

I stepped forward, but Krzys’s lips met mine first. The kiss that followed between us was gentle, soft, tender, warm, and kind. Yes, those are the words that come to mind when I think of that kiss. Nothing ever happens exactly as you plan it. Life is never the way you think it’s going to be. When it was over, Krzys didn’t move, and neither did I. We watched each other as if we were the only two people in the room. We had just experienced the most perfect kiss, and it had rendered us immobile. Before that moment, our marriage was going to be a clear, straight forward business deal with no emotions involved, but our kiss had just complicated it.

“Ladies and gentleman,” said Pastor Dan, “I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Krzysztof Zielinski.”
